Be wary of these folks...

I want to tell you about a very frustrating, disappointing, and anger-inducing experience I have had with a local company offering security systems installation and service.  This company came to me, asked me for my business, and proceeded to promise me the most secure service in the world if I would sign a contract.

I signed this contract 18 months ago, and paid (in advance) for 42 months of service.  I was assured repeatedly that when I went to move, which I promised them I would in a few months, that the entire system would be transfered at no cost to me.

When preparing to move, I called them to move the system.  After four phone calls, I was eventually able to secure an appointment for the tech to move the system.  The day came... and went.  No one showed.  After another four phone calls, I eventually "caught" someone by phone (by blocking my caller ID) and was told that they would have a manager look into it and call me right back.

As I'm sure you can guess, no one called back.  The company, Advantage Alarm Systems, says they have gone out of business, and are not responsible to us any longer.  However, they still use the same phone number (with a recording referencing "Advantage Alarm Systems"), perform the same service, and simply changed a word in their name to continue to stay IN business.  They have absconded with 24 months of monitoring money I have prepaid - nearly $1,000.

Listings show Advantage Alarm Systems is located at 1270 Pridgen Rd, Myrtle Beach SC 29577.  I believe they are now going by Action Alarm, but as I stated before, they continue to use the "Advantage" name.  They have a storefront, but they typically travel down to Georgetown, Charleston, and other outlying areas to solicit business. 

I hope this information reaches you before they are able to take advantage of you.  If you, or anyone else you know, has been a victim of this company, please contact me.  I am hoping to expose them for their shady business practices and have them put out of business for good.
