Fishhawk Lake-Adding to my Nature's Collection
In my blog on Friday, I shared some moments that I've recently been blessed with as wildlife has given me the pleasure of gracing me with its company. Yesterday morning I found something that many don't and it was in the most unlikely of places.
I had finished walking our dogs, Takoda and Kasa and was taking them to their doggie condo. We have a pallet inside the area covered in indoor-outdoor carpet and something caught my eye that had landed there. It was a large dragonfly, different than the two blue ones that had landed on my knee the other day. I thought it was alive and I didn't want the dogs to step on it. As I got closer to it, I realized that it had succumbed to death and looked perfectly preserved...just for me! After putting the dogs inside where they wouldn't step on it, I gingerly picked it up and brought it inside.
Now some would be put off by this, but I found it to be positively WONDERFUL! I walked around the interior of our home, trying to figure out the best spot where it would look natural and still be safe. As I've been a collector of natural things that I feel are rather artsy, I found the perfect spot for it, surrounded by two small wasp's nests, and lying on top of some dried moss, it now sits perched in our window sill so that whenever we do the dishes, we can enjoy it!
