My new toy, I mean tool is a camera but not any old camera. This one is supposed to be safe even if I drop it into Lake Anna. Now why would I do a thing like that? Well, I might not do it intentionally but it sure can happen accidentally.
True I have not dropped a camera into the lake but I have seen my cell phone fly there while I was using it to take photos. Of course it took a little more than aerodynamics to make it fly. It took me tripping on a deck and hitting the deck hard enough to make that phone sail off into the water with a splash.
I was doing a market analysis for an owner on a waterfront lot. When I got down to the dock I noticed that it was two levels with only a step down from one to the other. I thought to myself that I better be careful walking around. I truly did. However, once I started taking pictures I had the phone up to my face. All it took was one step in the wrong direction and I was flat as a pancake. A shattered phone at the bottom of some shallow water and whiplash were the results.
Recently I was talking with someone who has a waterproof camera and he really liked it. I thought about it and realized that it might now save me from another case of whiplash but it might survive a dip in the lake.
Taking a look on online and keeping in mind my friend's good review of his camera I sorted through the specs and reviews of a number of cameras. This is what I chose:
Fujifilm FinePix XP200 Yellow 16MP Waterproof Digital Camera with 3-Inch LCD
It weighs a pound and has a 5x zoom. The measurements are 5.5 x 5.5 x 2.5 inches and it fits in most of my pockets so it is handy whenever I need it. I bit bulkier than other small cameras but a good supplement to my growing arsenal of cameras.
I've had Fuji cameras before and been very pleased with them as I am with this one. I like having a camera with me no matter where I am as I never know when I'm going to be able to capture some shots that capture Lake Anna among many other things.
