The Annual Arts Festival is one of the most popular events held each year in Anacortes
The Anacortes Arts and Crafts Festival got its start in 1962 as the brain-child of Dr. Jack Papritz and a group of dedicated community arts patrons.
With the support of the Anacortes Chamber of Commerce, and $300 in seed money, the first festival in July of 1962 was billed as "the longest art display in the world." In the 50 years since that simple beginning, the Festival has grown into one of the largest and most respected Festivals in the northwest.
If you have never attended the Anacortes Arts Festival, this year should be the one for you.

When is it On?
This year the festival will be held on Friday August 2nd till Sunday August 4th. Friday and Saturday 10am till 6pm, Sunday 10am till 5pm.
Where is it Held?
At the heart of the Festival are 250 booth artisans who fill six blocks from 4th Street to 10th Street on Commercial Ave. These artists come from throughout the Northwest and as far away as New York, Florida and Arizona. Each year they are chosen through a selection process based on quality, originality and marketability.
Arts at the Port is a waterfront venue showcasing contemporary fine art exhibitions. It is located at the far north end of the Festival, in the historic waterfront Port Transit Shed Event Center. The exhibition will also be open Monday, July 29th through August 4th.
What is happening other than Art?
Music-Look for an exciting array of Northwest and world sounds in a number of venues throughout the Festival. Free music is provided during Festival hours on both stages Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Food-There will be over 50 Food vendors located throughout the booths are near the entertainment stages. They will range from ice cream, kettle corn, Greek food, BBQ and much much more..
Kids Activities- With the help of organizational partners, the Youth Discovery Area offers fun activities and crafts for our youngest visitors. This bright and busy area is a place to let the kids be themselves and get the creative juices flowing

Well if you are a lover of Art and/or Crafts, enjoy a day out with the family, or are looking for a nice piece of Art to decorate your home then this is the place to be this weekend.
The Experience Art Area features demonstrating artists. Hands-on Youth Activities spark the creativity of the youngest Festival-goers. Our Food and Beverage areas offer over 25 regional and ethnic food vendors plus beer and wine gardens. Our musical lineup includes rock, country, blues, world beat, Latin, Jazz and Folk on two stages.
