Interact. Engage

Yes, I said it. That's the best way to learn, and the best way to get more followers. It's just like commenting on Active Rain. By doing this, you get to know each other, and you learn how to blog better. It sharpens your skills. Same goes with google plus.

And, if you interact, others will interact back, and that will help your SEO. When your posts get more comments, plusses and shares, it does better in google. It also helps your google authorship. It's as simple as that.

So comment on some other posts. Plus some of them, and share some that you think are worthwhile. Others may just return the favor. Spend 5 minutes a day. Commenting will get you the furthest. (just like we all like getting comments here on AR).

You may want to start with people you know (e.g. those you know on Active Rain). I created my own Active Rain circle...so if I put that in the stream, then I just see the posts from Active Rain members. I can then go down and scan the ones I find interesting. I may plus some. And, I may comment on a few. (note the comments do not need to be long and it generally takes me a lot less time to read the post/comment than the blogs on here). 5 mins a day only.

It is something that I'll need so schedule to do. Google is big and ignoring it~ is not beneficial if you are serious about marketing your business. I hear more and more from my younger clients how heavily they rely on Google research.

Debbie - Absolutely the place to be!! G+ is super easy too. After a short while interacting the value becomes more obvious. How great to come up in the SERPS for just making comments on someone elses post. Works for me.

See I don't agree with Fernando. I'm sick of seeing what's on AR only to have the SAME INFO brought out on G+. It's like reading the same newspaper again & again, day in & day out. It's boring.

This is why I don't use Google+ - I can't commit the time to Interact and Engage. I'm already on Twitter, FB and LinkedIn besides here and just having a Google+ account is not effective if its not used. Great article
