Just 6 blocks from the grounds of White House, lies the Northwest Washington DC Neighborhood known as Logan Circle.  Logan Circle, which is actually a Park/Traffic Circle, was named after Civil War General and Senator John Logan.

The neighborhood around this "Circle" is known as the Logan Circle Neighborhood.  It's popularity has grown over recent years.  It is directly to the East of the sought-after Dupont Circle Neighborhood, and its proximity to the downtown/business areas along the K-Street corridor, make the location perfect for those who want to be able to walk to their office.

The neighborhood is bordered by S Street to the north, 9th Street to the east, 16th Street to the west, and Massachusetts Avenue to the south.

Logan Circle has a wide range of housing options.  From the old Victorian Homes dating back to the 1890s directly on the circle itself, to the many different rowhouses, as well as the many modern mid/high rise condo buildings.

As this neighborhood has grown in popularity (and expense), many of the Row Houses have been converted into Modern - Multi-Unit Condo buildings.  These small condo buildings, with all the modern fixtures, offer more affordable condo living; without the "Big Building" feel.

Logan Circle also has the VERY popular Whole Foods Market on P Street, between 14th and 15th. This entire strip of Retail shops, includes anything from the much-loved Logan Hardware, to a Dry Cleaners, Liquor Store, CVS drug store, Banks and of course a Starbucks.  Also along this popular retails strip are several great and popular Restaurants, including Logan Tavern and Merkado

The 2nd Retail/Mixed use area is along 14th Street.  The heart of which is the Studio Theatre at 14th and P Streets.  Here you can find furniture stores, bars and more good restaurants along 14th; but I would have to mention Thai Tanic. Great service, delicious food and priced just right.

The METRO, DC's subway system has no stops IN Logan Circle; but there are several stations just a short walk away.  To the North is the U Street station (13th and U), serving the Green and Yellow Lines; Mt Vernon Square to the East (7th and M); also Green and Yellow Lines. Dupont Circle Metro is just West of the Logan Neighborhood (Red Line Metro).  The McPherson Square Metro to the South (14th and I); serves the Blue and Orange Metro Lines).

Washington DC's Logan Circle Neighborhood has many benefits for its residents.  It is located close (about 4-5 miles) from the very convenient Washington National Airport; about a 8-10 minute drive. (Unless you hit infamous DC Rush-Hour Traffic).

Home prices in Logan Circle currently range in price from $239,000 for a tiny 420 sq. ft. condo; to 1.5 Million for a completely renovated, 5 bedroom Victorian Row House.

In January '08; the Average Sold Price for a home was $551,271, with an average Days on the Market of 66.

A 2 BR Condo in this Building would cost you close to $700,000

A 1 BR Condo in the Building would cost you about $325,000  (add $30-40K for Garage Parking)

You taught me something today James. I never knew that Logan Circle was named after Civil War General and Senator John Logan. Also, there is another John Logan who is a screenwriter. Some of his screenplays includes the Aviator,Gladiator and Any Given Sunday. And I am going to have to let my colleague know about Thai Tanic - I like the name. She is a big thai food lover.

James, as a new agent, I had a house listed on Logan Circle near the turn off for P Street.  It was considered a god-awful neighborhood at the time, and now times have really changed!  I could live there!

Thanks for your great blog!  I stumbled into this neighborhood when looking for a condo for my college son and am so glad I took the plunge - even as the subprime crisis exploded last August 07. I love the condo and can't wait until my son graduates and I get to take it over!
