There are three classic Real Estate agent movies that give you a distorted glimpse of the Real Estate world with drama, drugs and other things mixed in making people think ...Oh, this is what it is like (not). Of course every professional that sees a movie where their profession is displayed and acted out will be critical of that movie. Police, FBI, Doctors, Engineers, Scientists, Nursing, Attorneys, and the like all roll their eyes and laugh when seeing what Hollywood has them doing while the layman says OH WOW
GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS
Good movie depicting fast talking, buck wanting agents doing whatever it takes to stay alive and taking no prisoners while they do it. They sell swamp land, sand in the desert and rain in the rain-forests..in other words NOTHING just to make a buck. The acting is superb and the theme disturbing because there are people out there that do this well namely disrupt and destroy themselves and others while trying to make a buck...All the great actors applying their trade convincingly...
COCAINE: ONE MAN'S ADDICTION
Career sagging? Competition getting rough? You need an edge...a cocaine edge and this movie is acted out so well here. An ordinary getting by Real Estate professional becomes threatened and loses his competitive spirit but not to worry, cocaine will revitalize it. A friend (?) introduces the magic dust to him and instantly, deals are inked and commissions come in all courtesy of your drug of choice...Solid acting and remember Dennis Weaver?
THE BOOST
Another movie depicting a highly successful and naturally talented individual who has a knack for sales discovering through hardship that he can do anything better while on drugs. The tragedy here is that he was already doing well, has a minor setback and instead of riding it out dives into drugs. The drugs slowly start to help and then take away but make it seem like it was helping while it carried out its destructive behavior. James Woods delivers the goods here with Sean Young in tow
MAJORITY HAVE SUCCUMBED
It is worthy to note that movies mimic real life and many a rock star, movie actress or some professional that came into fame, power and money without some discipline or coaching is easily persuaded toward perversion, unusual excitement and destructive behavior. You see they have nothing holding them back anymore being able to do what they want and when they want without stopping too. No boundaries?
WON'T HAPPEN TO ME?
This journey into hell is well documented and is no respecter of persons. The common denominator is that everyone argues that this wouldn't happen to them and all who ventured forth ended up sorry for the whole thing to begin with...Life may be painful and full of unknowns, but drugs, alcohol and other addictions lead to a slow, death-like and painful proven conclusion...A LIVING HELL
