Movies Under the Stars 2013

Presented by the City of Hoboken,
along with Projected Images
of Hudson County and the
Hudson County Division of Cultural Affairs

These FREE Outdoor Movie Screenings take place at

Pier A Park, overlooking the beautiful Manhattan Skyline,
located on First St. and Frank Sinatra Drive in Hoboken.

Movies begin at 9:00 pm in June and July and around at 8:15 pm in August, unless otherwise noted below. For the best seating, come early and bring a blanket or comfortable low-back chair. You may bring a picnic, but alcohol consumption is not permitted and subject to a fine. 

If you arrive early, there will be scheduled live entertainment
before some of the movie features.

  • Wed. July 10, 7pm (raindate July 17th) - Circus Under the Stars,
    presented by Aerial Acrobat Entertainment,
    A unique & dazzling variety show
    filled with high flying acrobatics, ground acts & super silly characters.
  • Wed. Aug. 7th, 7pm – Preschool of Rock, musical performance for the whole family
  • Wed. Aug. 7th, 7:30pm – My Gym Hoboken, free demo

Schedules are subject to change. In case of heavy rain,
film presentation will be canceled.
Canceled films will be rescheduled on Aug. 14 and Aug. 21
beginning at approx. 9:30pm following the regularly scheduled film
at 8:00pm or 8:15pm. Check back for updates.

New Schedule for 2013

July 10 – Silver Linings Playbook  2012 (9:00pm) Rated R, 122 Minutes
Nominated for 8 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and winner of 1 Oscar, Best Actress Jennifer Lawrence. Also starring Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro; After a stint in a mental institution, former teacher Pat Solitano moves back in with his parents and tries to reconcile with his ex-wife. Things get more challenging when Pat meets Tiffany, a mysterious girl with problems of her own.

July 17 – Argo  2012 (9:00pm) Rated R, 120 Minutes
Winner of 3 Academy Awards 2012 including Best Picture & Adapted Screenplay;

also Nominated for 7 Academy Awards, including Best Supporting Actor Alan Arkin; also Starring Ben Affleck, Bryan Cranston, John Goodman, and Tate Donovan. A dramatization of the 1980 joint CIA-Canadian secret operation to extract six fugitive American diplomatic personnel out of revolutionary Iran.

July 31 – Life of Pi  2012 (9:00pm) Rated PG, 127 Minutes
Nominated for 11 Academy Awards including Best Picture. Winner of 4 Oscars including Best Cinematography and Best Director. Starring Suraj Sharma, Irrfan Khan and Adil Hussain; A young man who survives a disaster at sea is hurtled into an epic journey of adventure and discovery. While cast away, he forms an unexpected connection with another survivor: a fearsome Bengal tiger.

August 7 – Mary Poppins  1964 (8:15pm) Rated G, 139 Minutes
Nominated for 13 Academy Awards, including Best Picture and winner of 5 Oscars, including Best Actress Julie Andrews and Best Music. Also starring Dick Van Dyke, Ed Wynn and Glynis Johns; Mary Poppins is pretty, punctual and “practically perfect in every way.” When she takes the position of nanny at the Banks household, the often-neglected children are a little unsure of her unusual ways. But “With a Spoonful of Sugar,” her magic, wit and wisdom are easy to swallow — and prove to be just the right medicine for the ailing family.

August 14 – The Croods 2013 (8:00pm) Rated PG, 98 Minutes
Starring Nicholas Cage, Emma Stone, Ryan Reynolds, Cloris Leachman; The Croods is a prehistoric comedy adventure that follows the world’s first family as they embark on a journey of a lifetime when the cave that has always shielded them from danger is destroyed. Traveling across a spectacular landscape, the Croods discover an incredible new world filled with fantastic creatures — and their outlook is changed forever.

August 21 – Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted  2012 (8:00pm) Rated PG, 93 Minutes
Starring Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer and Jada Pinkett Smith; Alex, Marty, Gloria and Melman are still fighting to get home to their beloved Big Apple. Their journey takes them through Europe where they find the perfect cover: a traveling circus, which they reinvent – Madagascar style.
