"Buy this photo" - I got SO excited, then realized I would go broke!

In todays local papers (The Detroit News and The Detroit Free Press)  my "official" first day of
spring was formally announced.

My beloved Detroit Tigers are in Lakeland Florida for Spring Training!

There are some terrific photos online, and one I especially would want that showcases our 2 young pitchers, Justin Verlander and new-to-the-Tigers Dontrelle Willis smiling while Justin aims a radar gun at some of his teammates while they throw.

Imagine my total excitement when under the photo there is a link that says:

"Buy this photo"

I went into Oh-I-would-have-some-awesome-blog-photos heaven!  Until I clicked
on the link and saw the prices.

$30 for one photo.   (Insert sad pouty face of your choice here)

If I didn't have any self discipline I could spend my grocery budget for the next 2 months
in one sitting.

I'll have to stick with the photo I own to doll up this post.  It was free.  I took it myself.

PS to Brandon:  Please stay and catch.  I'm selfish.  I would miss you terribly.
PSS to Joel:  Wrap yourself up in bubble wrap.  Please.  Don't throw yet.  We need you.

Andrew:   When the Mets got Johan I was excited.  Both for the Mets and for us. He's out of the American League :-)    I love reading the New York papers sports pages for that reason - funny and feisty reporting about the 2 teams and their rivalry in the Big Apple area.

Edit because I hit update too soon:  Our pitching is awesome.  Now it needs to stay healthy.  ::knocking on wood and rubbing my Tigers cap::

I can't believe anyone would want to spend that much for a Tiger's photo. Now maybe a Red Sox photo would be worth it. :)

Dennis:  Comical comment :-)  My hubby would agree with you(he's a Red Sox fan)  Yes, we still are married.  Yes we get along fabulously.  However when there is a match-up between the two teams we watch in separate rooms :-)

Kris, that is a lot of money for a photo!  I'm afraid I haven't been a fan since a was young Dogers were my team.  Now I watch NASCAR...Daytona this weekend.  When in Rome...!

Diane:  It is!!  That's why I was so sad that I couldn't purchase one (or a hundred...)   Do you find NASCAR items expensive also?   Absolutely "when in Rome"!!

$30~! Too much.  I know I am old though.  I think that the $8 beers at the game are too much too.  It's costly to be a Tigers fan.

Should be a good year for Tiger fans...

Maureen:  I bring a soft sided small cooler to the games with my water bottles.  Like you, paying those prices just gripes me, so I won't do it.   It's certainly costly to be a fan of any sports team lately.  Although, I did hear Mr. Ilitch was lowering playoff tickets for Wings games.  That's good news for the fans!

Kris--They have to pay the player's salaries somehow right? $30 is cheap if you really want to use in your blog. Those who don't pay and use anyway will pay much more than $30. I am with you though...I take my own...Much cheaper all the way around! Besides my family likes to eat too!

With today's economic climate, I sure can understand why people think twice before shelling out that money.

Diane:  My marketing budget surely would not even have a line entry item for photos of that cost!

Gary:   This post means that spring has already begun (for me!)  My calendar is on Spring Training Time :-)  Can you imagine how much a person could spend for the photos they liked?  Heck, I liked them all!

Carole:  Exactly!!  It better be autographed for that price.

OK, sad when a jersey or two tickets is cheaper than a photo of them standing around at spring training camp! Good luck this year, just wish we had a big league team here to cheer on, but we have to drive to Seattle for that privilege.

Todd:   It is sad isn't it?  (The price of those photos...I really would want a few of them!)  Do you have a minor league team nearby?
