After two snow days and no school my children were very excited to head out the door today with all their Valentine's day cards and treats for their fellow students. With school being closed yesterday their little hearts were broken that they couldn't have their parties and Friday seemed to take forever to get here in the eyes of child.
Soon after my children arrived to school my 7 year old daughter called me in a frantic that she left her bag of cards on the table and asked me , "please, pretty please" will you bring them to school. For a 7 year old this is a total catastrophe and I willingly agreed.
As I drove the back mountain road everything seemed to come to life. The mountain views in the brisk winter air. The cattle that roamed and the calves that I observed playing in an open field. Although winter time and tree's are bare there was a sense of peace and tranquility that rang in the air. It reminded of why I chose Crossville, Tennessee as my place to live, work, play and raise a family. The "sense" of family here is astounding. I cannot remember a time walking into Wal-Mart and not seeing a teacher from my children's school or my children darting the corner to give their principle a hug an aisle over. There's no sense of urgency like in many other faster pace cities or counties. People around here slow down, breathe in the air and feel blessed for the crops that they grow, the home they have built....Crossville, Tennessee still believes a handshake is your word and you have to work hard to get to where you need to be.

The sense of love, humility and humanity for me is a blessing. The fact that I can allow my children to play in the front yard with no worries is a change coming from Port Saint Lucie, Florida.
It amazes me that a cow will literally stop traffic here and the birth of a new horse will stop people dead in their tracks. The fact that fresh fruits and vegetables are grown locally brings me back to when my father worked his fingers to the bone and had a story to tell with every callous he acquired. For the residents of Crossville, Tennessee it's "human nature" to stop at the car broke down on the side of the road..it's nothing for someone to remind you to "Love thy Neighbor". It's second nature to tour an area after a storm or hunt for your missing animal.

The four seasons bring back the brilliance of what Mother Nature has to offer and the deer you see gracefully hop the fence remind you of the story "Bambi" your parents read to you as a child. You get use to the fact that people still believe "Sunday, is the day to rest" and many small business owners close for worship and their families.
With all that being said I could not think of a better place to raise my children and call "home"
