This summer in Daytona reminds me of old stories about Daytona weather, when every day in the afternoon there was rain or thunderstorm. Old-timers were saying that because of all the development the pattern has changed and now we have fewer rains...
Well, not this year. It is raining practically every day. There, probably, were only 2 days without rain in July, but the beauty of living in Florida is that it does not annoy you. You wake up to a sun and blue sky, and when the thunderstorm comes, it is welcomed, it brings cooler air, and it brings water, and this is what makes Florida beautiful. Lush green everywhere...
August pretty much continues the pattern, but there was no rain in the evening yesterday. We were coming to Daytona from Palm Coast, where we spent several hours driving around, taking photos of the houses going to the auction.
As it was getting dark, we decided to stop on our way at this new oceanfront park in Ormond Beach and take a walk on the beach. It is a beautiful new park, and it became really popular. I am not sure I would be able to find a parking space there if I came earlier.
I had my Canon with me, but didn't take it with me to walk on the beach. Too heavy, too bulky... Boy, I regretted it just 20 minutes later. But sunsets are happening fast and it changes every minute, and when you notice that the sky is on fire, it is too late to run for the camera. I am glad I had my I-Phone with me, so this is what I could get with it.
I guess, it is a Murphy law as it pertain to photography. Every time you do not take the camera with you, Mother Nature makes you regret it.
I still enjoyed it immensely. I think it gives you the idea of what you might be missing. So, if you are thinking of vacation condos on the Beachside in Daytona area, this is what you could be watching as well.
Call me 386-405-4408 if you would like to enjoy these evenings on our gorgeous beaches.
