Well since my boys in Oakland are having another "re-building year" they're not going to be my AL WEST picks.  I think they'll have a hard enough time holding off Texas...again!

So here are Adam's picks for whose going all the way this year!

American league:

In the West:   Seattle

In the Central:   Cleveland Indians

In the East:   Boston (disappointed sigh)

Wild Card:   Los Angeles Angels

Although they are not my favorite, Boston is a good team.  And I think that Seattle put up a late run in Sept. last year and can pull off an AL WEST win with some solid pitching.  But LA is going to be on their heels for sure.  I don't think the Yanks will get a spot this year.

National League:

In the West:  San Francisco!  Whoops!  Had a lapse for a minute.  I pick Colorado

In the Central:   I'm going to root for the Cubbies on this one

In the East:   NY Mets

Wild Card:  I would like to see San Diego make a run for this

I have no real basis for the NL picks since I'm an AL guy.  NY sounds like the team to beat in the NL this year.  And Chicago, 100 years w/o a WS win is a good streak to break.

WORLD SERIES:

I'm almost positive its BOSTON and NY METS meeting up this year.  We'll say Mets in 6!

Good Luck to all!!!

Hey Adam, so far the A's are tied for first.  I'm looking forward to the coming year, who knows they may surprise us.  I can hope can't I?

We Shall see...I'll still be there to cheer them on...even if I can't remember all the new names.  We'll see you at the Coliseum!

Adam, what I want to know is after the dynasties of the late 80's & early 90's has Oakland really done anything else?

Well, they've made the post season 5 of the last 10 years.  '06 was the latest pinnacle.  I can respect a team that can put consistent winning seasons together, bring up some good players, and offer cheap seats to good games while having some of the cheapest management around.  I think they're more business minded as opposed to trying to buy the big names. I hope they can put something together this year because '07 was really inconsistent with all the injuries.

See, Adam, that is why I asked the question. Otherwise I could have said Oakland is the worst team since the 90's teams and I would have been made to look like an idiot.

Its a small market team for sure, but they've got some good things going on.  I'm picking up "Moneyball" this week.  Among other things it gives detail to Billy Beane's managerial strategies and how statistics don't usually reveal the whole truth.  It looks like a good read.

Adam: You are picking winners. But I do feel the Detroit Tigers made all the right moves this year. They need a better bullpen, but with better starting pitching and a young experienced power hitter will be hard to beat. Tigers in seven
