Lebanon Ohio Schools Requesting Tax Levy Renewal August 6 2013
Taxes. We all hate 'em, don't we? Well maybe except for the accountants and IRS. But Tuesday the Lebanon Ohio School District is asking for your money. Not MORE money, just the same money you've been giving them for years. The request is for a RENEWAL and not a NEW tax. It amounts to about $61 a year per $100,000 in home value, and again, voting for its approval will NOT increase your current taxes.
This levy is restricted in use and can ONLY be used for improvements or purchase of permanent assets with at least a five year life (think building improvements, books, computers, etc.). The levy is NOT for current operating expenses.
Now we're not trying to tell you how to vote. The Tea Party folks are of course saying No. The pro-school folks are saying Yes.
While we don't like taxes any more than anyone else, as local REALTORS(R) we're QUITE familiar with what happens to home values in school districts that start to struggle, and put simply, it's NOT pretty. Home values go as school reputation goes.
Polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, so visit your local Lebanon polling place and make your vote count.
And if you're thinking of buying or selling a Warren County area home, we'd love the opportunity to get you to vote for us, The Liz Spear Team of RE/MAX Elite! Did you know our yard sign is red, white & blue??
Serving Warren County's home buyers and sellers,
