How to Pick the Right Real Estate Agent for You
When it comes to looking for a real estate agent to list your current property for sale or find you that perfect home you’ve always wanted, there are several things you should consider before hiring an agent.
1. Ask for Recommendations – When looking for recommendations on which realtor to use you should first look to those you trust the most, like your friends and family. If someone you know and trust has bought or sold a property recently and had an experience, good or bad, with a particular realtor, this is valuable information. Find out what they liked and disliked about the agent, did they meet all their needs, and did they enjoy working with that particular realtor.
2. Search Online – You can go online and search for local realtors in your area. If you find a few agents that you think you wouldn’t mind working with, check out their websites. On their websites, you should be able to find out more information on them as far as what their background is and how much experience they have.
3. Interview the Ones You Like – After you have done your homework and found a few agents you might like to work with, you should call them and set up a meeting. When you meet with them you can ask them about their background, experience, and how they can most help you. You can also ask them if they specialize in any certain area, for example, if they specialize in new homes, in a particular subdivision, or in working specifically with buyers. Also let them know your needs and wants and see how they are willing to accommodate.
4. Ask for Referrals – At your meeting with your prospective agents, ask them for referrals from past and current clients, and if it is ok if you contact them. If you are able to speak to a few different people who have done business with the real estate agent and found out their own personal experiences, it should help you narrow it down to the realtor who is right for you!
