Prolong The Life Of Your Hot Water Heater

I love real estate!  I continue to learn something new every day!  I had an inspection on a home Wednesday and learned that to prolong the life of your hot water heater, you should drain it once a year.   Your unit needs to be under a year or two to begin doing this if you have never drained the unit before.   BUT PLEASE READ your owner's manual on your unit.....  By draining the unit yearly (this removes build up of minerals), you can prolong the life by about 10 extra years.

I am not an expert on hot water heaters....I am just passing on info that I learned the other day.  So, please be sure to read your owner's manual before draining your unit.

This is very effect to prolong the life of the water heater.  Be careful when draining it, I killed a patch of grass in my yard the last time I did it.
