Many Agents Could Use Some More Training In Simple Courtesies

Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Parkland/Coral Springs Realty-GreatFloridaHomes Team BK-0450270

Real Estate is a very rewarding career, when you have the privilege of helping people's dreams come true about home ownership.

Not expecting any job, worth having, to be frustration free….It is the little things, that are beyond annoying, which are difficult to understand.

* An agent will call to show one of our listed properties and we often have to drag their identity out of them. Our voice mail has very descriptive messages about who we are and what we do (with the option to by pass the lengthy greeting as well). When we leave a message for another agent, we leave the important things, like our name, company, which property we'd like to show, what we want to show, when we (would like to show it)want to show and our agent license number. When we receive a call, we  answer the phone with our Team name and our name so the agent knows who they are calling.

* In adding a listing to the multiple listing system, for consumer portals to aggregate it out to the world of buyers, we try to use every, single field available and the maximum amount of photos required, directions in case an agent is from out of the area (as we cover 3 counties). We even send the listing to the seller, for them to proof our work and suggest any changes.

* For access to a property, we make it as convenient as possible, using the automated system that gets the agents information when they make the request to show, instead of them having to track us down and then say, I don't have a pen, can you call me back or text me?

* If a property cannot be shown for a week, we change the status to "T", equaling temporarily off the market , so as not to inconvenience the agent trying to get access, when there is none.

*Since there are multiple members on our Team, and we transfer the Team phone number between us, we provide each member a "SHOWING SHEET", that lists the Sellers contact information and how to access the property, so the showing agent can get the information and access to the property the first time they call.

These are, SOP, "Standard Operating Procedures" for us. It is frustrating to comprehend, why these simple courtesies are not known or taught at the board level.  They may be taught, I just wish more were paying attention.

I realize I am preaching to the choir on this forum. Venting, I guess. Still Love My Job, because it is easy to be successful with a little courtesy and effort!  Joy

Hi Joy and Jeff, great post and topic to discuss!  I tried to schedule a showing today and the agent answered the phone, "Hello!" with attitude as if I was bothering her.  I asked if this (her name) and she said yea.  I was so surprised!  It is amazing how some people conduct their business!
