New development opportunities and tremendous growth on Panama City Beach, Florida are already happening in the form of a new shopping complex known as Pier Park. Target, Panera Bread, Longhorn Steakhouse and the Grand 16 movie theater have opened already at Pier Park, and Simon Group expects about 40 other retailers to be open by March, plus anchor stores Dillard's, JCPenney and Old Navy are expected to open in March.
If you have not been to Panama City Beach for a while, or if you have never been here before, you are in for a big surprise! All those "woods" on the northwest end of "Back Beach Road" have been cleared and developed. This MAP will help you find Pier Park along Hwy 98 West, recently named Panama City Beach Parkway.
One of the nicest new businesses that recently opened at Pier Park is the new 16-screen movie theater owned by Southern Theaters Company. Jane Birdwell, a spokesperson for the company was quoted in the Panama City News Herald in May when the theater opened saying that the 3,200 seat Grand 16 multiplex features stadium seating, digital sound, a game room, advance ticketing over the Internet and a specialty café which will include pizza, gourmet hot dogs, and cappuccinos and frozen coffees. The theater's stadium seating features an 18-inch height difference between each row for better viewing. "It's a fabulous location. It's breathtaking," Birdwell said.
