major league baseball
I know this is going to make some of you jealous (sorry), but I have killer tickets-- right behind home plate and just a couple rows back for the Texas Rangers vs. the Angels of Anaheim tomorrow. It's a 1:00PM game (gotta bring that darn cell phone) and the weather should be breezy and in the low 80's. I'm so excited, I'm bouncing in my chair.

Are you kidding me? Does it get any better? It is only the month of March (or Feb 29th in a leap year) that I get to have a dog and a beer right in the middle of my business day, when I should be working. But what is baseball without a dog and a beer? Tomorrow will be a great day.

On Saturday, the day after tomorrow, I managed to get three more killer seats for the Angels vs. the Chicago Cubs. I'm going to take my two favorite men-- my husband and my father. Should be a great game.

Actually, I bought all of my games at Ticketmaster.com as soon as they went on sale, because I love to sit right behind home plate. People that just "show up" on game day tend to get lawn seats.

Of course, there is nothing wrong with those lawn seats-- you can set out a blanket and catch homers out there. Also, the tickets are only $5.

Anyway, I am not just writing this to brag about the fact that I will see 12 - 15 games in March, with all kinds of match-ups... I've got Giants tickets; I've got Brewers tickets; I've got... Oh there I go again.

The actual reason I write this post is because, for those of you looking for a nice little getaway-- especially those of you in the states close by-- you should really consider Arizona in March. Think about it: You can go to a baseball game of your choosing every single day. It's Spring Training time folks, and I really feel sorry for the 48 states that don't have it. The weather is absolutely perfect. The players are friendly, loose, relaxed. As I watch Vladimir Guerrero warm up in the box...I can hear the chatter between him and the other players. It's like watching a game on Kevin Costner's Field of Dreams. Small intimate ballparks, completely open to the gorgeous weather.

Really, if you need a getaway, think Arizona in March. Stay for a week; see a different game every day. If you tell me you're coming, we'll meet up for a dog-and-a-beer.

Hi Karen, at least you'll get to see a winning team in the Angels! I live in Ft. Worth and year after year us Ranger fans hear "Wait until next year!" LOL  I am jealous of those tickets, though. How fun to be able to go to a preseason game and the weather be perfect!

Linda-- it really is so fun!  I so much prefer it to the enormous, loud, busy Chase Field where the D-Backs play during the normal season.  Plus, if I want to sit behind home plate during the season, tickets are $75 per and after everything-- it turns out to be a $200 day.  No thanks.

Hi Karen,

Should be great!  It should be a nice beautiful sunny 80 here in the OC where we'll be cheering for the Angels - hehehehehe!  Have fun.

Have a successful week.

Let's see...it's 32 degrees here, but with the 19 mph wind gusts, it feels like 23.  Hey, but the sun IS shining.

Have an awesome time tomorrow!

I hope you have great fun at the games. Where I live, there are no professional sports teams, so we don't get to enjoy those kinds of activities. It is great to see you posting. I have been in Utah in the summer, and loved it. Never Arizona. I think when my kids get a little older, a trip out west is must.

I hope you have a wonderful time. I would guess the players might even be a bit more friendly during spring training. Have fun.

I'm as true Yankee fan...I grew up going to Shea to see the Met's because it was closer to my home but truly the Yanks are my number one team...but my wife is a big Met's fan.

that small field intimacy that you speak of is one of the reasons that I like going to the local  minor league games.  Seeing the Cardinals play at the new Busch Stadium is cool, but there is something to be said for sitting 30 feet from the players, having a beer or 5 a dog and a pretzel and getting out of there without having to get a second on the old homestead!   Enjoy your games!

I am so freakin' jealous right now, I almost want to call you evil names.....  In an admiring-type way, of course.  Did you get to see the Mariners or the Padres?  I know very little about baseball except that I love to go to live games!

Karen, it brings back memories of the year I lived in Florida and got to see the Braves play their spring ball.  I'm not a fan of theirs, but the intimacy of the ballpark was fantastic!  The thought of the peanut man throwing the bags several rows up still brings a smile to my face!  Thanks for the memories.  Glad to see you're doing well, miss reading your posts!
