Winter shots- Saugatuck, Michigan

Lately Saugatuck Michigan has been experiencing winter wonderland. We have a break in the weather for a day or so, with more snow on the way Sunday.

Here are some photos the Ted Swoboda of Swoboda Images recently took.

Steps to the beach on Lake Michigan at Oval Beach. You can see how far into Lake Michigan the ice has built up according to the two small wood pilings in the center of the photo. That is the point the waters edge usually starts.

Saugatuck is beautiful even in the dead of winter.

So beautiful... we never get scenes like this in my part of Arizona but... it snowed on the hills near Phoenix today. Such a welcome treat!

Jennifer, today you would need a rain coat at this time, ice skates in a few hours as it's supposed to start freezing and then a snowmobile later tonight as they are calling for 10" of snow on top of this mess.

Duane - beautiful photos again! I have never visited Saugatuck in the winter - I usually stop at Grand Haven but you certainly make a good case for a road trip! Just reading your comment to Jennifer -- wasn't that downfall this morning horendous? It makes for treacherous driving with the snow over ice. Keep the beautiful pictures coming!

Mary, you should make a road trip some time. Downtown is beautiful with all the lights in the trees. Actually not sure if they are still lit up now, but could check for you.

So far no change in the weather that they were calling for, let's hope it passes us by, just once....

Mary, sounds great. Same here with the snow. The 10" they were calling for didn't show, maybe a couple of inches, but now I just heard another 4" possible today and 4" tonight, so we may still see the 10" total, yippee. Not.
