10 things you might not know about my past

In response to the What We Have in Common, Getting to Know Each Other Better- Contest, I am sharing 10 things that you (my ActiveRain family) probably doesn't know about me!

10 things that my ActiveRain family probably doesn't know about me:

  1. I have circumnavigated the globe
I went on Semester at Sea which is a four month study abroad program that takes place on a converted cruise ship. We visited 11 countries in the spring of 2009. I can honestly this was the best experience I have ever had. I meet some of my closest friends, saw many wonders of the world, and I didn't know a single person on the first day!

  2. I moved to Washington for no reason
I grew up in Southern California and decided to move to Washington for a change. I am glad I did since that is how I got this amazing job at ActiveRain :)

  3. I have been skydiving twice (once was with my grandma!)
  4. I went ziplining in Alaska

  5. I grew up in a house with 9 people
That's 6 kids, my parents and my grandma. Oh wait should I count the dogs, cats and birds?

  6. I had to wear a uniform from first to eighth grade

  7. I used to have a Disneyland pass
  8. I drove the Pacific Coast Highway (Highway 1) from Los Angeles to San Francisco

  9. I swam competitively in high school

  10. I used to HATE vegetables (now I love them)

I hope you all know me a little better now. I can't wait to read some of your posts!

Bet grandma loved that skydive!  lol  Vegetables are something you usually have to acquire a taste for.  Glad you have done what YOU wanted to do in life.

Michelle, My mom did semester at sea when she turned 70. She went around the world literally like you did and was gone 100 days. See you are never too old to do some things. The skydiving thing isn't for me, it's the heights thing. This is so much fun learning about each other.

Thanks for sharing some memories. In my opinion, Debbie's challenge is the best of the year.

@Leah - Yes my grandma is a tough one! Semester at Sea has so far been the best time of my life! I wish I could go back! :)

@Debbie - That is amazing that your mom was a lifelong learner as we call them on the ship! The friends I made on the trip discuss doing that all the time once we retire or can get another 100 days off :) Funny enough I am more afraid of heights after having gone skydiving. Aren't you supposed to conquer your fears after doing them?

@Roy - Thanks for reading. Yes this challenge is interesting and allows people to connect on things they have accomplished and strive to achieve. Great way to get to know someone in person or online :)
