FAQ – Will you haul everything away?

Yes, we always haul away all of our construction debris.

haul away debris in SacramentoThere are many reasons for getting all that old building materials off site quickly.

Safety – Many accidents involve stepping on nails or bumping into piles of debris. Getting the pile into a trailer and to the landfill is best.

Make room – Things can get crowded with stuff lying around.

Odor – Water damaged building materials has an odor that is best loaded and removed.

Create an atmosphere of rebuilding – It is amazing how much better a job site looks when things are beyond the demolition stage and the rebuilding stage starts.

In addition, many times we can throw in some of those things that you have wanted to get rid of for years. If we have some room in the trailer and going to the landfill anyway; we’ll take it for you.

It's worth asking the contractor, and getting in writing. It's worth offering if you're in a competitive situation. It should go without saying.

Excellent topic - and great conversation starter!

As a rule it is a VERY good ide to include the following in the award letter to ANY contractor:

All Construction trash and debris will be removed from the property and disposed of in an appropriate manner, owner is NOT responsible for illegal dumping, and will prosecute for 3 times the cost to defend against any similar claims.

Have the contractor sign and return the letter of award - whether or not it is actionable - it surely let's them know you don't expect to find your construction trash dumped on the next block!

Cheers,

It must be a common problem with many contractors if it is asked so many times Roger.

Lenn - I like to include it in the agreement just so that it is clear that it will be done.

Well thanks for the kind words Kathleen!

I hope by dinosaur you did not mean I was old.  :)

I have family in San Jose and go there often; my mother wishes there was someone closer to her too. I do not know of anyone, maybe I should move back.

Tom,

I say keep em scared, then only the GOOD contractors will work for you... I feel I can beat on them a bit since I still hold four Contractors Licenses in the State of Nevada!  Once you thin them out, good from bad, then you know you will only have excellent performance and no more "egg on the face" for clients!  I'm guessing that if we looked you up, you would have a long list of glowing recommendations for quality work and that is the BEST advertising any of us can hope for!  What is it they say... it is easy to soar like an eagle when your surrounded by turkeys - but I might be paraphrasing a BUNCH!

Cheers,
