There are many lurkers out there, hesitating to jump into blogging themselves, because they think they cannot blog about anything new.  Well, take heart because you don't have to. I can give you two reasons why that is true: 1. Your perspective and experiences will be different - no one approaches a subject in the same way.  2. It may have been a long time since a subject was blogged against last- you can breath new life into it.

I thought I would round up a few examples of posts that share the same subject, but from a different perspective to help prove my point.

Fake Fruit and Ceramic Rooster Overload! I need kitchen staging ideas by Kate Hart

Despite the title, Kate and her roosters get along very well!

ROOSTERS...the OTHER white meat!!!  by Elaine Maines

I think it is safe to say that Elaine keeps her stagings rooster free.

Marci and her partner Tanya cannot even agree on this subject!

Books as Props and Choosing Titles by Me

My post about using books as staging props posted 3/11/07.  Anyone remember it?  I almost didn't.  I read Diana's blog and thought 'why didn't blog about that?' and then I remembered...

The point of this whole post is to show that even if a subject has been covered, it hasn't been covered by YOU.  Many of us have posted a 'day in the life' type of blog, but none of us have posted YOUR day in the life.  So, let go of this particular fear and dive in!

Part of the reason most of love AR so much is because it is such a diverse community, yet all of us are willing to share our opinions, experiences and expertise.  Is that one of your reasons, too? Then become an active part of the community by sharing with us your perspective, how you do things and even what you've learned by lurking so long.

Thanks for posting this!  I think it is great that people have different perspectives - or sometimes the same perspective, but different reasons as to why!  I know I have been inspired by many AR members, sometimes it is because I agree, sometimes because I disagree.... They say that you need to hear something 3 times before it sticks.  I think it's a good thing we do get repeat information sometimes!

Melissa - You are so right!  Many posts I initially thought I would disagree with actually changed my opinion by the time I was done reading them, though I am still on the fence about the roosters...  It's so awesome to read all of these different perspectives.

Mary Lou - Thanks!  I've read other posts that say 'search before you write', but I don't think you should.  It doesn't really matter if it has been done before, because you will undoubtedly do it differently.

Kate - I love reading your opinions in particular. You always put a fresh spin on things.

Kimberly ~ Very good point!  I hope that is not keeping people from posting.  In fact, I think I read all but yours (posted way before I joined) and Kate's posts that you reference, which I am going to do right now!  I think you are right that it may be the same subject matter, but everyone looks at things differently or may have a different opinion.

Kathy - That is exactly my point!  Unless everyone is ambitious enough to read every single blog ever posted, your post may be the first they read on the subject.

Great post Kimberly!  Though there are many subjects which have already been discussed, I usually do not look them up unless I am in a really bored mood and have tons of time! (Which is rare...I can barely keep up day to day much less month to month!).  Thanks for the 'reminder' for those of us who blog less than we ought to.....Melissa M. is always urging me to JUST DO IT!  : )  Thanks!  Regards-Kathleen G

Hi Kimberly,  Thanks for the link to your post on books!  As a fairly new member of Active Rain I probably would have never found this on my own.  What you say is true, we don't have to "reinvent the wheel" just put our own "spin" on it.  Happy blogging!

Kathleen - Listen to Melissa - JUST DO IT!!!

Diana - I think we were commenting on each others posts at the same time. :)  Your post was what inspired me to write this in the first place - thanks for putting your spin on it!

Kimberly,  I once was the person that would say - why are  they bloggin on that it has already been done?!  I have now seen the light.....This is YOUR BLOG..You need to blog on what is relevant to your readers.  Who are your readers- they are your clients, the Realtors and clients that you need to connect with.  So I say blog away!

PS- Tanya and I agreed to remove Foggie!  I kind of wish he was ours - maybe we could use him in another staging!

Good point. The topic / subject may have been blogged on but it hasn't been blogged by you. Write your own blog and let your opinions and perspective be known.

Marci - Awesome!  Reason #3!  If people follow my blog or are looking to hire me, they are looking for my view of a subject and won't know or care that Suzy stager already blogged about it.  Excellent observation! I'm glad you and Miss Tanya could come to an agreement and that I have won you over!

Jill - Exactly.  Thanks for reading and commenting!

Hey Kimberly,
Very nice post. I guess what I get out of blogging is to let people know who "Tony" is vs. my website telling people what I sell.

Happy Selling!

Tony, I'm with ya!  Your blog is like an online job interview and personality profile all in one.  People won't find out what they want to know if you don't share it with them.  Your blog sets you apart from your competition and lets them know WHO you are, not just WHAT you are.
