Thought some folks might like the “heads up”
As of Feb. 8th 2008, the ADRE will no longer be issuing any new out of state education waivers.
This was a Substantial Policy change by the Commissioner. Apparently the state was monitoring test results and people who had been issued education waivers were taking more than one try to pass the Arizona portion of the real estate exam. The 27 hour out of state licensing program that many real estate schools in Arizona offered is no longer.
So... I passed my Utah exams on February 2nd. Big Water, Utah, my home base, is 17 miles from Page, Arizona so yes, indeed, the plan is to get my Arizona Sales license as well.
The waiver program worked like this. Show up with your recent education credentials, out of state license and Arizona would waive the national part of the schooling and testing requirement. That left a 27 hour state program and test to pass to be licensed.
That all changed on February 8th. Any candidate for licensing in Arizona must now do all 90 hours of schooling and pass both the state and federal portions of the test. WoW.
I officially start "work" on Monday, will send my paperwork to Utah, and then back to school I go in three weeks. I am going to try and pull this at a school that offers condensed weekend classes over a three weekend (Fri, Sat, Sun) schedule.
The ADRE website has not yet been updated with the new information but several Arizona schools have it posted on their websites. I have now called the ADRE three times in as many days.... that's their story and their stickin' to it :-)

Did they cancel the waiver program for all states? Sometimes they do it only for certain states.
