FM Radio Station WIHS 104.9, is sponsoring the collection of Free Wheelchairs Through Wheels For The World. WIHS 104.9 is a local FM Christian Music Radio Station in Middletown, CT and this weekend was the 13th year in which WIHS 104.9 has participated in the collection of wheelchairs, walkers, canes & crutches.
For over 20 years, Wheels for the World has provided over 20,000 wheelchairs to disabled people in 23 countries! In many countries the cost of a wheelchair is the equivalent of one full years salary, making it impossible for many of them to be able to afford a wheelchair.
The wheelchairs, walkers, canes & crutches collected by WIHS 104.9 will be refurbished before being sent overseas, and distributed to many needy children and adult disabled recipients. Below is a chart of the wheelchairs, walkers, canes & crutches collected by WIHS 104.9 this past weekend.
Next year I hope to anounce this event earlier and hopefully encourage area residence to drop off wheelchairs, walkers, canes & crutches at WIHS 104.9 which they no longer need, and are willing to donate to such a worthy cause.
