Summer Coming to an End

August is here, and with that brings the start of school and the winding down of summer. It hardly seems like we had a summer here in North Dakota, with below average temperatures, and plenty of rain! Before we dive into Labor Day, which is typically the last camping weekend of the year, there are still a few things to check out in the Minot area! Looks like a busy week and weekend ahead....

A summer wouldn't be complete without a visit to the Great Tomato Festival, which is this Wednesday, August 14th! This unique event features a DELICIOUS meal of smoked pork chops, salsa and chips, tomato and cucumber salad, roasted tomato stuffed with rice, beer battered bread and chocolate cake! Wow! There is live jazz music and a silent auction to end the night. This is a great event to support, as it is a Community fund-raiser rotating between area non-profit organizations. For more info, visit www.taubemuseum.org.

This weekend is the Annual City-Wide Back to School Garage Sale Weekend, August 16th-18th. While out and about checking out the sales, don't forget to go to downtown Minot, where the Festival on Main is going on on Saturday! Sunday night is the Nodak Speedway:World of Outlaws. What a great way to end a busy, but fun-filled weekend!! I plan bounce around Minot and explore some of these fun events, and I encourage you to do the same!

GOOD AFTERNOON GABRIELLE! It was a GREAT time! I always volunteer to help with prep work and then I join Carol for the meal. One of the things I enjoy most is seeing the 10% of people who dress to the 9's. I always try to lok my best keeping in mind that for an hour or two prior to the event I will be setting tables and such. Good food, good times!
