4 Comments on Town Hall Meeting Update—More Questions than Answers as the City Water/Sewer Debate in Ham Lake Continues
I was at the meeting and it was very obvious no one is interested in the plan our Mayor is trying to push down out throats. People all around me were ready to lynch the man. I am not interested in this plan either. Why duplicate what is already available to us within in a few miles. I am a senior citizen, and if the City Council decides this is what we need, I will have to sell my home. And given the economy, what chance will I have and where will I go?
This event demands a vote of the people. I thought that the Mayor worked for the people not for his own financial benefit.
Barbara--I absolutely agree that there should be a vote on whether the city should take on this project and not I don't think this should be a vote five person vote based solely on the recommendation of a task force. It should be a citywide vote as all Ham Lake residents could be paying the price for this for years to come.
Thank you for your comments. I appreciate and understand exactly where you are coming from on this issue. It is not just senior citizens that will not be able to pay these assessments. There are many struggling families in all age groups. No one should have to lose their home to pay for assessments. But this proposal will put many in that exact situation.
