This just might work! Recently it came to our attention here at Miller Homes Group that our market area did not have an apartment locator. As a group we went out and visited many of the complexes in the area and discovered that they actually wanted one and would be glad to support it. We looked very hard at what the startup would be and made the decision to move forward with it. We now have Tyler Apartment Locator as a new business. The decision was made with a lot of research and visiting with the community. I have a recurring theme as of late and that’s asking the question, “What’s good for the community?” I see businesses everyday open and then close because they failed to do at least a little bit of market research on what the area they live in needed and would support. Really, how many more Mexican Food restaurants do we need in Tyler, Texas. Our area has many colleges and senior living complexes so it needed a local apartment locator. The competition was minimal and the startup was reasonable and the community needed it, so for us it was a good decision.
Ask yourself this question; is there another business your community needs and would support? If you answer yes, then do your due diligence and see if it makes sense to start another business.
Oh, did I mention that a full 40% of the folks don’t renew their leases with their current Apartment Complex? That means great home buying leads and return business for the locator business. See, it makes good business sense for us as well. Helping the community and making money, what a novel approach in today’s world.
