Illegal immigration should be a concern to all American citizens in this election year. With increased anxiety over the economy, Americans should be aware that illegal immigration is expensive -- so expensive that it will deprive taxpayers of enormous, hard-earned benefits in years to come. Illegal immigration starts with the word Illegal.   People wait years to become Americans. The United States is a country of laws, we must all do our best to follow them.  I wouldnt care if Canada was the problem it needs to stop.  Last month I went through country road traffic light less than 10 minutes before a drunk illegal killed a American.  I saw the aftermath and it was not pretty, 4 people including the driver were killed.  My kids could have been without a father, it could have been me.

Im not going to say Im in favor of illegal immigration, Im not, But I do believe we need to open our borders.

Its not the illegals that are going to be the biggest burden on society, Its those damned baby-boomers. As Pogo once said..."I have seen the enemy and its us"  Wait till we all begin to retire; social security and medicare will bankrupt us unless we have a large number of worker paying into the system. And we can; just give the illegals a path to citizenship and open the borders to even more immigrant workers all of whom will be paying into the social security and medicare system....Problem solved

It's crazy when you thing about it, because most would only have to go back about 5-6 generations or so to find the illegal immigrant (by today's standard) that came to the US from another country, we are the melting pot.

I agree with Ron, the boomers are going to KILL US!   Makes me want to just 86 Social Security payments right now

Katrina- We didnt have nearly the problem 5-6 generations ago, most were legal and had to be processed through Ellis Island.  I agree with you on SSI.  Someone needs to freeze the payments where they are for a few years until we catch up.

How is immigration expensive? Congress is always making issues drag on to fill their pockets w/ our money and finding no solution. Immigrants aren't causing more expenses they are bringing more money for cities ,immigrants pay taxes when they buy/rent homes, buy cars, food, clothing at stores, all good for the economy! And with those purchases they are paying taxes they never claim which means more money for us americans so what's the big deal they aren't hurting me in any way by taking the shitty jobs with low pay they come here because their country is way worse they are satisfied w/ min. wage if that so what are they doing wrong we were all immgrants at one point.

Victoria, Agreed, it seems as though politicians like to ignore or provide cursory attention to important issues.  Just to clear up any misunderstanding, I have no problem with immigration.

I do have a problem with ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION, as so should you, since the term pertains to those who threaten the safety and security of our citizens.

Reflecting back to 9/11, I think we're foolish to allow ANYONE into our country without the appropriate due diligence and careful scrutiny.  Would you agree?
