Thursday was one of those days from, you know where.  And to top it off the suburbans battery decided to die at the grocery store with the wife, newborn and 2 year old in tow.  Things were 100% in chaos and wrong that day.

During the middle of it all my cell rang and I thought that it was AAA or my father bringing the jumper cables.  The call turned out to be from someone who read my blog, when they told me this I think I gasp or made some sound letting them know that I was in a foul mood, they asked if they could call me back at a better time, I advised 1 hour would be fine.  I never heard from them again, but I new that when I hung up.  I knew I had just shot myself in the foot or put my foot in my mouth.

To my mystery caller I aplogize!  Sorry I disappointed you.  Another chance please!

Lesson learned- do not answer the phone when your in a bad mood.  Who says old dogs can't learn new tricks!

Sometimes its always best to take a moment to chatch your breath and return a missed call then to answer in haste amid all heck breaking loose.  I think we've all had a moment like that.  I know I have. Leason learned the hard way.  Hope they call you back though.

Not to worry....I took care of their real estate needs. Kidding Jeff! I'm sure they wanted an REO guy.

Hi Jeffrey,

It is so sweet that you put your apology out there, to reach out to the caller.  That is the Jeff I am getting to know.  The momentarily abrupt guy was just a fluke.

And to the Caller, please give Jeff another call, everyone has a rough spot and you would be wise to give him a second chance. (His expertise makes it worth the try)

 Take care, All,   Laurie

Jeffrey: Possible scenario "Hi, I'm calling about your blog. I'm the guy who sells those pens to all those real estate companies. Listen, I've got this great deal, someone just cancelled their order and so I'm really excited to tell you that I can, just for today..........."

Jeff - I hope they call back!  I send most calls to voice mail and then return all my calls between 9 & 10 and 3 & 4 each day.  I learned this from Floyd Wickman and it works well for me.  I hope everything worked out with your vehicle.

It was me Jeff and I was calling to give you the name of a bank president that needed to unload some bad paper.  Was it really?  You may never know.

Rich

PS.  Newborn in the dead car in winter and cell call from the blog, I'd have done the same thing.

I have a rule (I sometimes break it) don't answer the phone unless I can really consintrate on the call.  Let it go to voice mail and I'll deal with it when I can speak intelligently.  It can happen to the best of us.

It has happened to all of us in one way or another, I guess as long as we learn from our mistakes it is worth it.  I have a 7 month old and a 2 1/2 year old, it gets easier, (or I am just used to it)

Old dog and new dad taking care of the family while taking care of business and learning something new at the same time.Whew. Caller probably wanted to sell you a program that contained all the SECRETS to becoming successful in real estate.

Jeffrey - I hope everything worked out and the inconvenience wasn't too unbearable.  Yes, things always seem to happen when we don't want them to ... and don't happen when we want them to.  Nice of you to post this here and I am sure anyone would understand.

OH MY. I just had a similar thing happen. Stranded in the grocery store parking lot. (dead battery) and some one called me. I let it go to voice mail... I knew I would be short with WHO ever was on the other end and if it was important they would leave a message... (it was my son) checking to see if he could help me. LOL

Good point!  I usually do not answer the phone if I am in a bad mood.  However, like you, I would have answered the phone thinking it was a source of help.

If I didn't answer the phone in a bad mood, nobody would ever talk to me.

Been there.  Done that.  Got a t-shirt and didn't like it.  I understand completely.  It happens to all of us.

That was YOU that they spoke with?  I wish I'd known- they contacted me instead and, thrilled with my cheerful voice, bought a house today.  Better luck next time.  (Except, if they had called me, I'd have told them to call you back asap).
