“Foodie Fridays” in Austin
We love our Tex-Mex here in Austin and this restaurant in the heart of downtown not only is locally owned and operated, but is also 100% green, 95% gluten free and totally delicious! So, take some time this weekend, enjoy beautiful downtown Austin and head on over to Nueces St. for a delicious brunch, lunch or dinner.

Chef David Garrido has a passion for serving Mexican food that is embedded in traditional Mexican cooking yet incorporates many culinary influences, using fresh ingredients and flavors from all over the world. He calls his style of food “New World Latino”. Chef David says: “When you eat food that is cooked properly and use healthy ingredients, you feel good – Energized!” Like I said, we love our Tex-Mex here in Austin and in that tradition the tacos are still served with rice and beans, but they’re filled with mahi-mahi or coffee-rubbed rib eye or lightly battered oysters. Not your usual tacos! There is also a variety of salsas ranging from habanero to ancho; and his sauces are often sweet, citric and spicy all at the same time. Some of what you’ll find on Chef David’s menu…for Brunch: Mozart Huevos Rancheros with morita sauce, apple smoked bacon, fruit & refried black beans. Or, how about a Classic Mexican Caesar Salad with poached Mozart egg, parmesan cheese, croutons and fresh fruit? (FYI: The egg is called a Mozart egg because they come from a lady who plays Mozart for her chickens, and feeds them flax-seed). On the dinner menu, you’ll find Garlic Mojo Shrimp & Linguini with tequila, jalapeno & lime cream, wild mushrooms, basil and roasted red peppers; or you can try the Grilled Chimichurri ribeye with cotija basil potato cakes, Mexican crema and portobella mushroom demi. Of course, we can’t forget about dessert….Vanilla bean crème brulee topped with strawberry habanero honey or something called the Final Feliz (Happy Ending) which is 2 chocolate truffles served with a homemade almond cookie. Yum!!
