Thank you, Debbie Reynolds, for strengthening our sense of community here on Active Rain with your What-We-Have-in-Common contest. I enjoyed writing about things from my past; now to the present. Many of you probably don't know:
- My husband and I live in the heart of San Francisco, and love it! After 40 years in the same suburban town, we're loving our new lifestyle sans yard, sans household chores.
- I walk to do my errands. Whether it's to the post office or for office supplies, to the optometrist or nail salon, grocery, hardware or library, my feet take me up and down hills and staircases.
- I am new to Pilates classes and Hiking Yoga. Exercising with interesting people 30 years my junior is stimulating! (and challenging!)
- I'm now a member of two real estate boards. San Mateo County is where my office is located and much of my practice in there and in the neighboring Silicon Valley. However, I love introducing people to the San Francisco neighborhoods and am also a member of the San Francisco Association of Realtors. Real estate is practiced very differently here.
- I engage in street clean up days! Who knew pushing a broom and cleaning up streets in the Upper Polk Street neighborhood as a member of the Middle Polk Neighborhood Association could be so much fun -- and make one so annoyed at the number of cigarette butts and paper trash dropped thoughtlessly down. (I feel a blog post forming!)
- I drive a Prius, and think 50-miles-per-gallon is pretty awesome! Even though I don't drive on City days, my work takes me up and down the Peninsula. The Prius is just the ticket.
- My dream vacation is a heli-hiking trip with the whole family to a lodge in the Canadian Rockies. If I ever buy a lottery ticket and win, (or when I sell that $20,000,000 Pacific Heights mansion!) that's what I'd do!
- I want to have my next birthday party at Planet Granite and learn to scale walls and rappel down them - but I can think of only a couple of friends who might join me.
- Today I'm putting the "Active" back in Active Rain - it's my re-entry into the blogging world after dropping off for longer than I wished. (Thanks, Debbie)
- And -- I'm celebrating my 20th anniversary of being cancer free this year! Life is good, indeed.
