What's For Sale in Georgetown? August 2013

If you want to live in a bit of history, one of the 28 Georgetown homes now on the market could work for you.

The prices range from $899,000 to $8,995,000 (basically, just add a "0" to the little house) and a lot in between.

The least expensive house is a 2-bedroom condo alternative on 34th Street NW just north of Dent Place .  It's been renovated with a granite and stainless kitchen.  But my favorite feature is the rear garden, with is a great place to host, well, garden parties!  Hmmm.  This could be the perfect house for me!

Add that Zero and you get something pretty amazing at the corner of 31st and P Streets.  Count 9 bedrooms and 7 baths, a library with dark wood mill work, and really high ceilings.  And while the house dates back to the 1800's, the kitchen is totally 21st century.  And there is room to park a fleet of cars.  Check out the link for photos of this amazing property.

Living in Georgetown is really the height of the Washington experience.  You can walk not only to the neighborhood Apple Store, but to restaurants with food from many continents, or if you want to cook your own dinner or entertain friends at home, the many small markets offer the best in meat and produce.

Pat, that's qite a spread in pricing for the neighborhood.  Georgetown sounds like a perfect place to live (if you can afford it) but even the inexpensive is expensive.

Hi Pat - there's nothing like the Georgetown experience to feel as if you truly a Washingtonian -- the number of properties available for sale seems pretty low.

Leah, it's interesting, because the inexpensive is probably less than the average for the zip codes west of Rock Creek Park.

And Michael, when I saw the little house, it made me want to pare down my stuff and move!  I've always sort of had a thing for this neighborhood.
