The City of Sugar Land is a beautiful, diverse community and is ranked the safest city in Texas and the 12th safest city in the nation, based on an analysis of FBI crime statistics in City Crime Rankings 2011-2012, published by CQ Press.
This distinction can be accredited to the Sugar Land Police Department's crime prevention programs and partnerships with residents and local businesses to increase safety and improve the quality of life for residents.
However, no city is completely immune from crime. One of the most frequently asked questions that I get from buyers is, "Is this neighborhood safe?"
As realtors, we can't answer that question. However, we can provide resources so buyers can answer that question for themselves. One suggestion is to drive through the neighborhood during different times of the day to monitor activity and chat with residents to get their input.
Sugar Land Police Department's "Daily Crime Report"
However, there's an even more convenient way for current and future residents to access crime reports for specific subdivisions in Sugar Land. It is called the "Daily Crime Report" and it is available on the City's website at http://crimemap.sugarlandtx.gov/.
Simply click on a Sugar Land subdivision from the drop down menu, choose a date range, and select the crime categories. Residents can also sign up for Daily Crime Reports to be e-mailed to them.
