Warning: before reading further, you MUST promise not to tell anyone about this.........
unless it would be to help someone living in Anthem, Tramonto or the Sonoran Vista area.
The City of Phoenix recently completed the new Sonoran Vista Parkway which is a 9 mile east/west road spanning from North Valley Pkwy to Cave Creek Rd in north Phoenix. Starting at 27th Ave/North Valley Pkwy, drive east on W Dove Valley Rd and continue southeast to Cave Creek Rd. You will end up between Dynamite Blvd to the north and Jomax Rd to the south. There are no stop lights or stop signs (like that one on Carefree Hwy at 16th St that seems to take 5 minutes to turn back to green) and the scenery is mostly pristine desert and mountains.
There is a sidewalk along the north side of this road and various shaded rest areas for those who want to walk, bike or wheelchair their way through this beautiful area. Currently, the City of Phoenix is building a large parking lot at the 1/2 way point which looks like it will offer additional shaded rest areas. Besides saving you tons of time along the usual "Carefree Hwy" route or driving through various subdivisions or down to the loop 101 when driving from the north valley southward, the beauty of the desert awaits you and is sure to bring a smile to you after a long day at work or to start your morning out right.
Why not just take a
drive and enjoy the view. I do.
