The annual Sand in the City event is just around the corner! If you enjoy seeing amazing sand sculptures, this is a don't miss event in Olympia! And it's free!!!
Starting on Friday, August 23rd, you can view the competing teams of sand sculptors in action from 10 AM until 4 PM. Saturday, August 24th the Beach Party in the city continues from 10 AM until 8 PM, and again on Sunday, August 25th from 10 AM until 5 PM. Sunday is also grandparents day at Sand in the City - and this is definitely a great place to bring those grandkids for a fun outing.
Sand in the City is located at the new Hands on Children's Museum, and besides sand sculptures, there will be lots more to do and enjoy. Food, music and dance entertainment, activities galore - all happening in downtown Olympia. One of my favorites is the Tidepool Touch Tank where you can get up close and personal (and yes, you can even touch) creatures from the tidepools.
