On Monday morning I reviewed my calendar and noticed that the San Francisco Meet-up was scheduled for today. I shook my head and said to myself "there is NO WAY I'm going to be MAKE that meet-up". You see, I'm flying to Virginia tomorrow to meet the rest of my in-laws, and I had a ton of things to do to get ready.
On Tuesday, as I'm working away, an e-mail pops up in my inbox. "Are you going to the AR Meet-up tomorrow? I'm driving up there and it would be nice to meet. OK, I'm not really driving, as I'm being driven, LOL". It was from Elizabeth Weintraub.
What? Elizabeth is going to be at the San Francisco Meet-up? Now I'm saying to myself "there is NO WAY I'm going to MISS that meet-up". It's amazing what a person can get accomplished when they really want to.
I e-mailed one of the hosts, Bryan Robertson, to tell him that I hadn't RSVP'd but could I just show up anyway? The meet-up was at Bryan's tasting room (to taste wine, not Bryan), and I wanted to make sure it would be OK to crash the party.
Bryan's wine venture, Vie Winery, is on Treasure Island, the venue for the World's Fair in 1939. I have lived in the Bay Area for almost 30 years and had never been there before. What a treat! The weather was perfect and the scenery was drop dead gorgeous. Off in the distance you could see America's Cup boats out on the San Francisco Bay.
The meet-up lasted for 2 hours but it seemed more like 20 minutes. What a pleasure it was to meet and talk to Active Rainers who I have been following for the past 3 years.
If you haven't been to a meet-up before, I highly recommend you try to make it to one. Thanks, Elizabeth, for just the nudge I needed to make it here today. And thank you Bryan and Kathleen Daniels, for hosting this event.
