Pet peeves. We all have them. Our makeup of what we stand for could have taken years to perfect, and for ourselves to find ourselves.

How many times have you listened to a salesperson and you just know they are full of crap? They will say anything to make themselves look good, condemn others without even a thought of good sportsmanship's, yet alone just doing the right thing. It's just frustrating when you know someone is being taken advantage of. You just want to intervene and for once look at the culprit and say "You should be ashamed of yourself" "How can you live with yourself"

Unfortunately we see these type of people everyday. If anything at all comes out of it in a positive manner is the fact that we know as individuals that we just cannot lower ourselves to that level.

Think about it. i it something that someone has to work on to be so dishonest, or unbelievable? Is is genetic, is it a personality that just thinks that they are god's gift to  women, or to man?

How many times have you listened to a sales pitch and it is so canned that it just about makes you vomit? It gets to the point where you could care less to hear it even if it was a good product. Sad, Just plain said. Everyone hates a phony, but what is really sad is when the person actually begins to believe their own crap.

Shakespeare said that the whole Worlds is a stage. I am beginning to think he did not plan on having the audience listen to the snake oil salesman.Years will go by and we come into our own sales personality. We are ourselves, and our customers have come to know us by our personality and our demeanour. when we visit other brokers and salespeople we realize that they are funny, serious, amazingly quite, or quite the opposite, One thing is for sure, We have come to know them as they are, ands they are our friends,

Sadly, we also know the ones that we wish we could know better, and wish they could let their head down. Perhaps, we do not even want to mingle or associate with them. My doors are open to all of you anytime!!

Sincerely

Tom Braatz

interesting post, i am glad consumer are getting more educated these days that they can now spot BS a mile away, too bad there is still some that get taken advantage of, thats why i believe in spreading the word, the more you educate your client the better position you put them in and they too can educate there friends and family so they cant be taken by the quick tongue salesman

Tom,

What makes me sad are those agents who are so 'polished' when they're 'on' and yet, behind the scenes they leave the office at 4:30 and don't take any more calls or set up appointments for their properties to be shown because 'they are done for the day' and hit the local bar.  Their unfortunate sellers sit and wonder why their house isn't selling....well, no wonder....their agent makes it next to impossible to show it!

I often wonder how some people stay in business, in spite of themselves. Believe me, that phony polish goes a long way when it comes to fooling the unsuspecting public.

Tommy - Very nicely put. I started to take script training at my office, but it's just not me. I can smell a script a mile away and I can't stand them.

I was told SCRIPTS  SCRIPTS  SCRIPTS..... I hate them...  If I can't listen and talk to my clients without some "Script" than I should not be sales!

...Busy week.... Have to work on the Pooch Post over the weekend!

Tom!

I read this post twice. It kicks butt. It is best if the salesperson

-listens first

-then, just puts their cards flat out on the table.

-then, talks about life.

..I will be calling you tomorrow!

Tom this is a very profound post.  You hit the core of what it is to be human. We are all imperfect in some way. You are right though, transparency of trickery, device, or deceit is never seen by those holding the smoke and mirrors.

Be the best you can be, honestly and fairly.  The rest will take care of itself.

The snake oil sellers can close though, Tom. They simply captivate the prospects, who lose all control. If er're lucky we can a second chance to serve. It does seem like one giant innane carousel, my friend.
