I know that many of the people reading these blog entries are Realtors. So I thought I would throw this out and see what responses I get. In my opinion, if you want to get help, ideas, coaching etc. to do business in our industry by mostly referrals, there are two gurus in the business. Joe Stumpf "By Referral Only" and Brian Buffini "Working By Referral".

I have been to Brian's seminars twice and even used his tool box of ideas for a while. I have not been to a Joe Stumpf event but get his emails frequently. So my questions are: Has any one been to both and if so do you think one is better than the other? Or if you have been to only one of their seminars or used one of their services, did you find them to be helpful, and if so what in particular did you use to help build your business?

All thoughts and comments are welcome. Thanks.

I have been to both the Main Event and the Turning Point. I have been a member of the coaching clubs offered by Joe Stumpf and Brian Buffini. I am currently a member of Brian Buffini's Clubnet. I attended my first Main Event in 1993 in Dallas with Joe Stumpf. This was in the early days of Joe's business. There were only about 40 people in our class. One of the Realtors in the class was a fellow from San Diego named Brian Buffini. Brian was already doing his business by referral. I suppose somewhere along the way Brian started his own company. Both companies are excellent, both coaching clubs are excellent. I can say without reservation both are "World Class". For my life and business at the present time I feel I need to be with Brian's Clubnet, but that is just a personal preference.  I would encourage you to continue what is working for you if you like the Turning Point and Brian. What you need to do is to put into practice the things you are learning, sending the Items of Value, sending the notes and doing the pop by's. If you are already doing these things then make sure you are doing them on a regular basis. You might want to check out a Main Event, it changed my business and I have been using the techniques since 1993. I still pull out my manual from that first Main Event and use the information. But to answer your question, I like both men and both companies.

Hi guys,

I think both speakers are excellent.  Some of Joe Stumpf's earlier tapes actually have Brian Buffini in them when he was just a Realtor.  They have similar approaches, but the material I've seen from Joe Stumpf is better organized and more comprehensive.  Brian, on the other hand, is more entertaining to listen to.

One thing I always like to point out, however.  Trainers like Floyd Wickman (Sweathogs) are also excellent, because they give you the "words" and the techniques when you're first starting.  By referral works great as you generate clients, but you need to find a way to generate them.  I think Floyd and the Sweathogs team are some of the best "forced" system trainers in the country.

Other trainers / speakers I really enjoyed include Rick DeLuca (who is really fun and has some great information and ideas) and Loren Keim (who does the Ultimate Prospecting Workshop - funniest workshop I've ever seen and still packed with information).

Thanks,

Don
