REALTORS Are Not Immune to This Market

By
Real Estate Agent with Future Home Realty

I've noticed over the past couple of months that lots of REALTORS' homes are being listed on my MLS.  Just in the area I watch daily, it seems there are always a couple more homes in the MLS that tell me "Seller is a Licensed Florida REALTOR."

For Sale Sign

I've also noticed that most of these homes go into the MLS overpriced.  Have you seen this in your local market?

I think this is happening in many places, Peggy.  There are lots of them here.  But none of them are mine!  ;)

It's such a shame.  But why are they overpriced?  We should know better, right?

Many of the "investor/flippers" over the last couple of years have been real estate agents also.  Some may have missed the wave, and are now stuck.  I never seemed to have time for it.  But, I am staying put to weather the "normal" market.

Peggy, there are some things that I don't understand and don't think I ever will. An example of this is the case I encountered today when doing research for a CMA. This is a listing where the owner is an agent. The home had been for sale since last August. The listing had NO pictures, not even one.

Worst of all, the house had been priced before for $ 420,000 and then changed in January to $ 3,999,000!!! I'm sure it's a typo and the agent meant $ 399,900. But the thing is, he hasn't noticed the mistake even though it has been there for over a month. It's horrible. But then again, to become a real estate agent you only need to pass an exam that doesn't teach you how to sell or market homes, and they don't test to see if you have any common sense at all.

Griselda, your story is pretty horrible..makes you wonder what kind of job that agent would do for a customer....YIKES!
