About Floyd County and Rome, GA

I have lived in Rome, GA all my life, and I was so blown away a few weeks ago by how beautiful Rome is. I leased a town house to one of my very good friends, on Pear Street. I thought it was a neat area, downtown with some views of the river. But, I went to see her after dark the day she moved in and I could not believe it! Her town house overlooks the river, which is lovely, but the lights of Turner McCall on one side and the lighted city clock from the other side was knock down gorgeous!! You have to make a trip up there at night. If you ever need to know if it is a place to be, just try it! I felt like a newcomer to town.

Sometimes when we live somewhere all of our life, we take it for granted, just like other things. Rome is such a pretty place. You need to take a day and just look at the beauty we overlook everyday. Just seeing that site at night when I had never really seen it at dark really opened my eyes. I recently visited Jamaica and wondered what it would be like to open your eyes every day and see the beauty of the aqua seas and the islands. I thought how lucky those people are. But after making friends with them, I realized they just take it for granted. They forget to see it. Just like we forget to see Rome.

I urge you to take a drive up to Pear Street at night, or up to Shorter College at night and just look around. Have you ever looked, I mean really looked, at the City Clock at night? We are very lucky to live here. Just look around. Take time to smell the roses and touch them.
