You ask yourself, how can I help, how can I make a difference? Well, I can tell you one man can make a difference, be it by voting, saving a life, or bringing a life in to the world.
You see, I hate it when I hear someone say that "One man can't make a difference". It is hog wash, you can if you just try. Hell, you may have already made a difference and don't even know it!
When I think of the saying "One man can make a difference" I think of the old NBC show "Knight Rider", which is coming out with a new movie tonight. I'm not sure what to expect from the new movie, but I learned that one man can make a difference from Michael Knight!
After watching that show when I was younger, I did things a little different after that. I wasn't able to kick butt and take names like Michael Knight, but I knew I could make a difference in other ways. I decided to become a Big Brother! This changed my life and the child's life also! One person did make a difference and I was that one person.
I've since coached little league baseball and softball and hoping that I can, once again, change a child's life and be the one man that can make a difference in a child's life, be it giving them self confidence or just someone to talk to other than their parents. Sometimes that is all it takes to make a difference in a life.
So, whether or not you are going to watch Knight Rider tonight, remember go out and do something different this week, and remember that one man can make a difference.

The guy that was in a band and started live aid was one person that raised 1.5 million in one day to feed the hungry!!!! Do you know who I am talking about???? Hint: There is a song about him now that is popular in the top 20......????
Live aid happens every year and each year more money than the year before is collected to feed the hungry and this is what one man started.........

WE do not realize the ripple that can happen as a result of what we do. We may not think we affect many but if we do something to inspire another that in turn inspires another who may in turn inspire many....... Congratulations Todd on making a difference one child at a time. Who knows in the end how many that can turn into.

Jennifer - His name was Bob Geldoff, I don't know the new song as I've been retired as a DJ for 3 years now. But, Bob Geldoff was the song writer and singer for a little known group (at least her in the US) called the Boomtown Rats. They were best known in the US for their hit "I Don't Like Mondays"
Great inspiration, If you are a fan they brought Night Rider back to prime time tv. It is going to spark years of arguments among car buffs. They switched from a camaro to a mustang. Have a great week.
Todd- Did you get a chance to watch the show last night. The first thing the kid say was one man can't make a difference and at the end of the show Michael Knight came on and said one man could and he was that man. If we all had that mentallity the world would be a much better place!!!
Todd -It is like moving a pile of pebbles one pebble at a time. It doesn't seem to make a difference when you first start, but later you see the new pile grow while the old pile gets smaller. This is how the energy changes in the world, one little vibration at a time! Keep it going!

Hi Todd, Great post. My coaching days are long behind me, but there is nothing more gratifying than watching a child learn new skills and the self-esteem that goes along with it. That's great the Knight Rider made such a difference for you! In our family, the guys "McGyver" it and revel in mechanical ingenuity...I'm not mechanical so I just get a kick out of it. Todd, I firmly believe that one person can make a difference. Differences can be small in notice or attract world attention. They all count. Thank you for being a Big Brother. That is an awesome responsibility.
Jennifer's example of Bob Geldof is a great one. My daughter did her history competition entry on him and made the finals. The theme was one individual that made change. I'm very proud to say that I taught my kids the good things music has produced in our cultures as well as about the music itself. She learned about Live Aid because I was there at the concert in London in 1985 and she was getting excited about the Live Eight concerts. One sick and tired Irish guy, Midge Ure (Ultravox), talked to a very loud, sick & tired Irish guy (Geldof) and Live Aid was born. That is amazing. Don't forget Rat Trap!
Joe - I know I was a little disappointed with that being I loved the original and I've owned two 1969 mustangs, it was a tough decision to watch.
Jeannette - I enjoyed the show, It wasn't what I expected, probably could have been better, but enjoyed it just the same. A little violent to be showing my kids, but that had to write it for today's audiences.

Elaine - The Big Brother things was one of the best years of my life, it really actually helped me as much as it did that kid, we still talk from time to time.
By the way that is really cool that you were at that 1985 concert, I bet your daughter think that is pretty cool also! I'm glad you enjoy reading my blog, it is full of useless stuff as well as some things I find important to me that hopefully get me business!
Coming across this post is really funny. My wife, my son and his wife, and I just had a discussion last night about when KITT came to town for a visit to RAZMATAZ in Milan, Illinois. My son was about 10 so it must have been around 1987. What memories, what memories!
Lucky - You got to see the car in person...I'm jealous! That was an awesome car, I think I just came up with a new goal to add to my bucket list...Build my own KITT!

We each make a difference in every action and every word we speak - the energy of everything we do goes out into the world, malinmg it better or worse.
So very true, Todd. Where people get bogged down is in thinking that the difference to be made must be broad ranging and sweeping. That it must affect an entire population. To make a positive impact, we only need to be impactful on one single individual. Not that hard when you think about it. Thanks for a great message.
I agree... "One man (or woman) can make a difference." I have played softball since I was around 6 years old... not saying my age now but, it has been a long time. I have always loved the sportsmanship, team work and friendship I found playing the game. When my girls were old enough to play, I encouraged them.. 3 of my girls have been playing ball for many years now. I have also helped coach. It warms the heart when a little girl looks up to me and says, "I love softball".... because, I know exactly what she means!
