I don't think I'll ever completely understand how Google goes about positioning sites in their search engine, but I won't complain. I do know that I have two companies that call me constantly, hoping to sell me their services in getting my name on the top of the search results for Google specifically. Those companies would be Homes.com (who just happen to own Harmonhomes as well) and HomeGain.com.
I have a habit of checking the rankings from time to time to see where I come up on the searches. Tonight I was surprised to see that I am actually directly behind these two companies, who pay big bucks to get themselves at the top of these searches. It's even funnier when you consider that I don't write a blog post a day, as I did in the past when I struggled to stay in the top 10. I don't know how it works, but I'm happy that it does. I guess I won't be needing to spend those big bucks to position myself on Google's first page after all!!
