Do you know if your identity is safe? As more people connect via the world wide web, whether it be for personal or professional, cyber crimes and identity theft are growing geometrically. In 2007, for instance, major personal data loss was reported by 98 companies, 85 schools, 80 government agencies and 39 hospitals as tracked by the security tech site Attrition.org.

If you are like I, you carry a pda and/or smartphone with a plethora of personal information for several hundreds of relationships. If you are like my niece, you may even carry an iPod with account information. How about a cell phone? Anyone have one of those?

As the influence of the internet grows without no bounds, the opportunities for identity theft grows astronomically. Our reliance on digital data compromises are security without any effort. It is absolute that we monitor are personal date accordingly.

Our identities are vulnerasble in so many ways, it is difficult to keep up. Maybe those old timers who deal only in cash and keep their funds in their matresses have a point.
