A  new gym has opened this month in Quakertown, PA.  It is called SnapFitness and it is open 24/7.  It is located at 238.5 South West End Blvd.   It is always nice to have new businesses open in the neighborhood.  It shows that the area is still growing, business owners have determined that it economically a good pleace to operate a business, and it is a good place to live.

I am writing about this particular business because although everyone knows that they should be doing some exercise, lot of us can not get to a gym during the hours they are open.  I am a Bucks County Real Estate agent and have a pretty full schedule most of the time, not unlike most people these days. Often by the time, I have a few minutes and consider working out, the gym is getting ready to close, especially on the weekends. This one is nice because you can go in 24 hours a day, although they are not staffed all the  time. When they are not, there is a special card that allows you entry, 24 hour surveillance and alarm systems for your safety.  As of now, their hours that they are staffed are:

  • Monday  10:00 AM - 8:00 PM
  • Tuesday  10:00 AM - 8:00 PM
  • Wednesday  10:00 AM - 8:00 PM
  • Thursday  10:00 AM - 8:00 PM
  • Friday  10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Saturday  9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Sunday  1:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Another nice feature about this gym is that they do not require you to sign a contract.  Wow! No Contract!  Do you really mean that if I decide I am not using it(which I have done) , I can cancel. Yep.  They charge somewhere near 34 dollars a month for a single person.  They have a reduced rate for husband and wife, and another for family.  Children must be at least 12 years old.

They also have a tanning booth that you can use for an additional $15.  Some additional features are:

  • •·                 No waiting lines or crowded parking lots
  • •·                 Clean, comfortable, safe environment
  • •·                 Fast workouts, friendly place
  • •·                 FREE $100 Personal Fitness Consultation
  • •·                 FREE Online Training Center
  • •·                 FREE Personal Wellness Plan
  • •·                 FREE Fitness Adventures for Prizes
  • •·                 FREE Personal Web Page
  • •·                 FREE Fast Start Equipment Orientation
  • •·                 Online Nutrition and Meal Planning
  • •·                 Customized Supplement Plans

Stop in, the equipment looks great, and your health will thank you.

Linda, It sounds like a great gym and this is also a wonderful Localism post for those that didn't know about it.  Our gym used to be open until very late, now they close at 8pm, not very convenient--and yes, they have contracts :(

Carole:  I just love it! Half the time when I joined other gyms I would not make it before they closed or just stopped going even though they were getting money every month.  Yuk!  They even have tanning for an extra 15 dollars a month and hubby could join for an extra 15.

SnapFitness in Quakertown should be renamed SnippyBusiness.  I went in to ask about the "free week trial" and they wanted enough personal information to steal my identity.  The free trial pass can only be used when the staff is there, and the staffed hours have been shortened considerably from the ones you posted. Since I work in the afternoons and evenings my week's free trial would be reduced to a Saturday afternoon. And you do sign a contract - one in which you absolve them of anything that could constitute their negligence, and promise to pay them for anything they consider your irresponsibility. There are no showers. The cost is low, but they will only allow automatic deductions from a bank account. They will continue to deduct the funds until you resign (that's understandable), but I'm sure they'll lose your resignation for a few months! My advice: stay away and find a reputable, time-tested gym.

I understand your frustration with the ability to use your free pass. Although the hours do not work for you now,   if you join you could use it 24 hours a day. It works for me since I am in real estate and  my schedule often does not work with a "regular gym" or something like "Curves"  Doing opens on Sunday I am usually looking for Sunday early morning or after 4, both of which the regular gyms do not offer. When I stated a contract was not required, I meant a year contract. I know many people who have joined a guym, having to sign a year contract, stopped going and still had to pay. If you are looking for a regular gym in the Quakertown area, I suggest Workout Plus. You have to sign a contract, but they do have showers, classes and even a pool.
