John 1:1  IN the begining was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Now John didn,t say from the begining, he said in the begining, Jesus did not become, he was already there.

Psalm 90:2Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the world from everlasting to everlasting You are god.

To the Jews a word was more than a mere sound, it was something active and existing. It was power.

The greeks said that behind the world was a mind a reason, a power that kept things in place. This unlimited power was said to be the word.

So what do we have in this first verse of John, An unlimitted powerthat was there before the world began.

Words were used to talk to God and now"the Word" himself had come down as Jesus Christ so that we always had a way to reach God.

Hugh, He is and was and is to come - we can never know the unfathomable God until we see Him face to face - even then will we ever really be able to know Him completely? Thanks for the perspective. How Great is Our God!

When Jesus went to heaven, He spoke to the disciples of the importance of Him going away.  He also indicated that the Holy Spirit would come to be their comforter, teacher, guide, counselor and lead them into all truth.  So today we too have the same Spirit that came to the disciples. The very same One that raised Jesus from the dead.  The very one who dwells in us as we are temples of the Holy Spirit.  Isn't it awesome that God didn't leave us comfortless or without truth or without guidance or without counsel?
