A few years back I encouraged my eldest brother to get his real estate lisence. Made sense to me that a man in the fitness industry working with celebrities in a tourist centered community with a vivacious over the top personality would reign supreme in this business. My argument was fueled by his most recent surgery on his knee and the fact that at age 56 his body, although perfectly fit, was bound to tire as he aged. My worry being even tho his body had served him well for all these years and had provided him with a successful income, the day would come when he could no longer count on it to pay his bills. Law of averages suggest a late in life career change would be a brave and wise move.
Exuberance,a zest for life and a childlike curiosity for risk and committment to fun have defined my brother for all of my life. So when I got the call that he took a digger hele skiing in the Mountains above Sun Valley Idaho, I was not surprise. He broke his neck. Helmet stuck in the snow and his body kept going. No paralysis and at first we were hopeful he had just dodged another life threatening bullet. I delight in the fact that he has a blast. He Plays for a living.
Tonight right before going to bed I spoke with him. It seems the swelling has gone down and now there is concern. I heard his voice shake. Not the voice of my older brother. He is disappointed to miss the rest of the ski season. He worries wether Tennis will be part of his spring and summer income. He challenged wether showing houses will be too much. I said a prayer before closing my eyes... and asked that the surgeries give him his exuberance back.
Awakened at 2 am...concerned and wondering if my Blogging community would send some energy to my healing brother and fellow realtor...
