I have been waiting for this opportunity for 12 YEARS!!!

Path of Life

Today is going to be a wonderful day, because I am having an experience that we all wait our whole careers to get to have!!!

Today, I am showing homes to my VERY FIRST LISTING CLIENTS from 12 years ago!!!  How totally cool is that???

I am sure that all of you hold a special place in your heart for your very first clients.  I remember BOTH my first listing clients and my first buyer clients very well.  They launched my career.  They gave me belief in myself as an agent.  They were patient, kind, and willing to take a chance with the "New Kid"...and, yep, back then I WAS a kid.

I work in an office that draws seasoned professionals.  There is no commission-split at The Muljat Group.  You get 100% of every commission, but you also pay 100% of all of your expenses.  100% is 100% all the way around.  I have to develop my own marketing, I have to develop my own web presence, I have to develop my own CMA's, pre-list packages, buyer's packages, etc, etc, etc, and I pay a HEFTY desk fee, I buy my own paper, paperclips and staples.

The Muljat Group was developed by my broker as a place where seasoned agents, the best of the best, could enjoy the fruits of their years in the business financially.  When I hung my license, I was in my mid-20's and the youngest agent in my office (and back then, prior to so many young people trying their hand at real estate, one of the youngest agents in Whatcom County.)  Joining the Muljat Group was a sink or swim proposition.  (Now, to be fair, I will say, my Mom, as one of the original members of The Muljat Group, definately opened the door for me.  She has always been my mentor, but, we have separate businesses.  We co-advertise and co-brand...we work loosely as a team, but we are definately separate business entities.)

So, today is the day that I get to see how far I have come in 12 years.  I get to see how my client's lives have grown and progressed, I get to see how I have grown and progressed.  I get to help my FIRST SELLERS, the people who believed enough in me to be the first to hire me, buy another home..."The Path of Life"...round and round it goes.  How totally cool is that???

What a blessing this business is!  What a wonderful, amazing, day this will be...I am EXCITED!

Live good. Be happy. Call your first clients and tell them how much they mean to you.

You don't look old enough to have a client from 12 years ago!!!!  (Wish someone would tell me that!!) Anyhow, that is totally cool and a true testimony to your professionalism and obvious follow-up.  Way to go!

Congratulations. That is great. You must have good follow-up to maintain your customer for over 12 years. Have a great 2008.

Pam-

I simply love my clients, and I let them know it as regularly as possible.  No science in that.  No strategy in that.  Just what we should do every day for the people in our lives that we care about, client or not.

Live good. Be happy.

Mimi- that is very, very cool. I remember my first sale as if it were just over a year ago. (looks at calendar). Oh. It was. So, somewhere around the year 2019 I'll let you know if I get another deal. Deal?

Mimi, how fun must that be for you? Congratulations and it's really a testament to you and your follow up to be working with them again after 12 years. PS: 100% is the ONLY way to go, don't you think? ;-)

How awesome, Mimi!  Exciting too!  Eventually, you'll help their children buy homes, too!  Won't THAT be cool?

With people selling on average 5- 7 years after moving in, you had to wait a bit longer on this one Mimi. But you have seen the fully cycle and I am so happy for you that they were loyal to you. It is a credit to you being a GREAT Realtor.

I've always said the best marketing that one can do is to keep in touch with your past clients.

Touch them by phone, email, or snail mail at least 4 times a year and they will remember you always.

Mimi,

Your first client is kind of like your first boyfriend/girlfriend. I think this blog brings back memories for all of us.
