Hyperlocal is a term referring to "news coverage of community-level events usually overlooked by mainstream media outlets." Basically all the other stuff people in a niche area want to know.  And providing hyperlocal information within your real estate marketing can make you a sought after resource! Especially if you are sharing your hyperlocal content in the format buyers want it in...online! Does your real estate blog, Website, and/or single property Websites include hyperlocal content? If not, you could be missing a golden opportunity to market your expert niche knowledge!

And, I'm not talking school scores and your basic relocation guides here.  But real pertinent information and events for your niche market. Restaurant and local business reviews are a good place to start. The options are numerous and depend on your area. And don't stop at links to helpful resources; be sure to include community pictures and video. You'd be surprised what you can find on YouTube when searching your niche area.

Hyperlocal Content - List of examples

How you choose to share your hyperlocal content and in what format are entirely up to you. Your blog or Website could have a community or neighborhood page with a description, pictures, links to resources, and even video. But you can get even more specific in your blog posts and by adding hyperlocal information to your single property Websites. For example, MarketSites already include over 70 links to nearby amenities, making adding a few hyperlocal bits and pieces a snap!

Nicole, Great information. By posting the "hyperlocal" information readers start to trust and associate with the writer more.  This is a way for real estate professionals to really connect in what others might perceive as a non real estate way but really leads to more contact from prospective clients. I write a ton of hyperlocal stuff for my blog and I also have sections on my website where I post the information too. Thanks for more article ideas :)

Jo- Yes, I think you are right about the indirect marketing effects of hyperlocal blogging. Plus, what's more fun to write about than something you know really well!

I agree 100% that this is a great way to connect with clients on a local level.  I wrote a recent post to my blog, on the topic of writing about local area arts and cultural organizations, such as choral groups, recitals, dance events, art and sculpture exhibitions, area bands and orchestras and so forth.  Not only to local people connect with the topics, but you get an added boost from grateful people at those cultural organizations who are hungry for PR opportunities!

Nicole,  thanks for sharing.  Hyperlocal is a new term to me.  Glad to learn something new today.

Nice work Eric! The arts tend to get overlooked. We have a new performing arts center in our area and people are always interested in upcoming shows, reviews of performances, and those become great offshoots to even more localized recitals. Great stuff!

Nicole - Nice jib, I'm trying to focus more on smaller areas that i like to sell in. This is the way to get it done.

Thats great information! really focus in on local areas so you can make a buyer feel like home, and on the other hand it will tell vendors that you really know the area.

Well, I can see we have a few fans of the "hyperlocal"! That's great because YOU are the experts in your area and sharing that info can't hurt, right?

Well, maybe if that's ALL you write about! Remember you are a real estate agent....so mix it up by including both the hyperlocal AND relevant RE industry advice. It's a marriage made in the blogosphere! :)

Nicole~ I love this blog, and the video completely reminds me of "home!" I agree that that is what people want, hyperlocal content. There are so many areas and neighborhoods that have their own distinct personality and flair, and so many times you can't find that info. Good points to implement;)
