Tax Season! Joy! Realtors can find another job or be like the Eagle

By
Real Estate Agent with 616 Realty LLC

I am just amused by this  street corner I drive in Grand Rapids. It has had not one but two people dressed up in the statue of liberty costume and stand there wind, rain and snow just waving and sometimes dancing  at the drivers. (They make the mail person's look wimpy!)

Now if any of you want to know what the weather is really like, go to: www.wzzm13.com will gladly give you all the details.

(This is a picture of an Bald Eagle in Holland Michigan that is looking for food. Apparently where they are from north of here, their food supply is frozen so they come down to Holland for a bit.)

So, when you think about how bad being a Realtor@ is in this market in Grand Rapids, Michigan or just about anywhere in Michigan and other states, I bet you would gladly do what we do not to stand in a costume.

I have thought about maybe standing in a "house" costume and holding a sign that says: REALTOR@ wanted to find new home owner. I guess I am not that brave.

As Realtors are getting ready to make 2007 come to meet endsor to give an end to the IRS, we should remember why we got into this job in the first place. Taxes always hurt. But think of joy the homeowners will have with their agent when they get a refund because they purchased a home in 2007.

I think what people fail to remember is that we don't get paid until it closes and we don't get all the money. It may seem like a great deal of money and it is to them, but since the last closing..... well it might be a gold mine.

I have in the past sent out in a different color legal size paper to my clients, their HUD. A simple not attached: "I thought I would send you a copy of this so you can take it to your tax person. This should have all the information you need. Should you need anything else or would like to buy another home with your refund, please feel free to contact me!"

My son is doing a report on Eagles and I am learning just as much as he is. One interesting fact we learned was that the Eagle can only lift so much. And if she/he gets a fish that weighs more than they can left and they are very hungry, they might die trying to hold onto the fish. They literally won't let go, because their mind has their talons locked on starving, not of drowning. So much for brains at being at the top of the food chain. Don't get me wrong, I learned a lot about these beautiful birds and I am truly in awe by their grace and history.

The moral: Don't hang on to that fish that is too big. Don't hang on to the house, or the client or the job, or the marriage that is going to drown you. And the taxes, well, 2008  is yet another year of taxes! As they say: Soar like the Eagle
