24 Comments on Florida approves the teaching of "evolution" in schools
Bill - that was funny! You do know that the American came to london and bought the WRONG bridge right?
Rob - actually you and I are pretty much n the same page. When I say I believe in the theory of evolution, that was perhaps a little too simplistic. Luckily I will never be able to run for President so can't be called a flip flopper. I think something happened first - asteroid, visitors from space, a divine being - and what has taken place since then has indeed evolved. The Dinosaur-bird connection is a fascinating area of study. I haven't googled it, but the tail bone work is really quite amazing.
Trey - I hera you - and I want it all taught.
Dan:
I love your statement, "I'm not so much interested in where I came from as I am in where I am going."
I think I have heard it before but timing is everything.
Simon,
I am with Hugh, evolution is a theory that is unproven but the bible is the truth proven day in and day out.
The bible is not a myth and Genesis is not vague as Rob said. Look around you, is all this by accident?
DAN - I love the "some people came from Monkeys" part! Excellent.
Matthew - the last league table placed Florida 14th in the National Education league table.
Mike - in this land there has to be room for all beliefs. I do not deny yours and feel they should be taught. I equally feel that scientific theory needs to be taught as well.
Last summer, I attended Dinosaur World in Plant City (old-time low-tech theme park) with my kids. It was actually quite fascinating. I didn't realize how many full skeletons were discovered of some of these creatures. It really makes you think hard about how it all began.
JUDY - So I am slightly confused - you don't want to teach this scientific theory?
ROB - I have driven past that place so many times!! Never been in though.
If something evolves, is it still around? If I came from a monkey, why are there monkeys? If these are different monkeys, why didn't they evolve?
Maybe God started with dinosaurs and monkeys and such and wasn't happy with his fellowship. Animals could not write about that so they had no record of it. Maybe he tried again with Adam and we all know he wasn't happy with that because we do have a written record of that(The Bible) but here we are today with a second chance because we can make decisions and understand them, unlike animals.
Simon: Somewhere in heaven, John T. Scopes is watching.
Either that or he was reincarnated as a monkey and is busy peeling and eating bananas.
